When I was young (50 yrs ago) the science article in school said there would be a device planted into the body to release insulin, and today there is. SciFi movies showed faces while talking on the phone, and today there are Face Chats. Currently AI robots are being made, the widespread use of them has not been implemented yet. So what do you think our future will be like in 50 yr from now?? What devices do you think there will be in the future???

Your mistaken... AI robots are very much in widespread use...in all sorts of industry and business

Our future will be nothing in 50 years ... we'll all be dead... even my daughter will be almost 100 , 50 years from now.......

I don't know about the technical aspects of a future society, but science fiction has had some predictive success. Predictions of the political nature of society have been all over the place, but I hope for the next generations that it doesn't end up like Orwell's 1984.

Like many others, I'm pessimistic about the future. So many things seem to be going wrong. But, it's still possible that our technology will save us. If it does, there will be things that you and I can't even imagine. Machine intelligence will be so advanced that even if it is not actually conscious, it will appear to be. Whether that turns out to be a good thing or bad is hard to say. My guess is that it will be mixed.

I suspect we are far closer to H. G. Wells' Eloi and Morlocks already than the old bugger ever could have imagined.

Fewer and fewer have a clue how anything works, and can make it or fix it or grow it or process it. More and more have become sheeplike consumers providing little intrinsic value to the system.

If we have Value in ourselves and those we love, we will make it and be fine. I'm optimistic about the future.

The basics of survival will not change. At its core life has not changed for me in 65 years. Clean water, coffee, and farmed goods.
