I think it's like YouTube. Or instagram or Twitter. They appreciate or agree with your humor, opinion, attitude or actions.
I follow three on YouTube, Mark Dice for political, freedom Toons for humor and Seal rescue in Nambia.

I follow someone if they post sensible and interesting Posts/Topics so I get notified if they post something new, I see it really as a compliment. The only time I don`t follow someone(Even if I like their post) is if their profile is empty, as many are(no offense) but that`s just me

I am following people who I believe have interesting comments. I dont consider it "stalking" if they get something beneficial from your words.

Apparently I am following quite a few people. I don't remember setting that up. Must have been when I was quite new. Nowadays I follow topics, not people.

But like Beezer, I want to know what does that really mean? Does it mean I'll see the posts of people I follow even when I'm not involved in the threads they post in? I don't think so because I don't always see the posts of people I'm following.
I am following a few members and I know a few are following me. I take it as a compliment too.
