What fast food is worth paying for it. I don't go out often.

Just curious about what fast foods you have tried. What is tasty, worth the cost that you have tried. The ones I am curious about are In and Out Burgers, 5 Guys burgers, Chipotle, Raising Canes chicken? I think, that most of us have had McDonalds, Taco Bell, and all the pizza places but some of the newer franchises have not been tried.

I would prefer having a caferteria nearby where you can get a meat and three veg but the ones I had close have all gone out of business. It was a favorite of mine growing up and a place I could always take my Mom and she would enjoy it so much.

Had In and Out burgers and liked them
5 guys is fairly greasy nothing special
I never ate Chipotle after they had months of sanitation issues and e coli problems a few years ago.... Have eat Qdoba when i lived closer and never had a bad meal.

I will do a quick trip to Panera ........has nice sandwiches, salads and soups always has a nice piece of bread with soups and salads sometimes a small apple on the side.
I feel most of the Sub places you can get a big dose of veggies. jimmy johns / jersey mikes etc..
have not been to a Subway in years but i feel my last disappointment was just a bad franchisee.

Fast food is fast falling out of favor with me. Just weekend past got Chick-fil-A take-out for me and Sharon. Two 3-piece chicken tenders, a side and two shakes. $30.00! Even WhataBurger's kids meal is now over $5. A quick snack favorite of mine. Small plain hamburger, small fry and a 1% white milk.

Future will find us going out to a sit-down restaurant instead. No longer see any value in a fast food purchase.

I like the McDonald's fried chicken sandwich, the "Deluxe McCrispy". The combo meal runs about $10 and is pretty tasty.

Other than that within about 40 miles we have Wendy's, KFC and one Chili's.

I expect fast food to evolve. No idea how, but somebody will hit the right idea and it will take off. We probably won't even see it when it starts. Drive-through only robotic food extruder? You never know. I suppose it is all about quality, taste, convenience, and price.

You're a hoot @dilettante, I have a Golden Corral about 2 miles away. I have never been there. I did see a video recently on Tik Tok by a young British man in the US, he thought it was quite good apparently. I also have not been to an IHOP or Denneys. Like I said I don't get out a lot.

I just know back in the day, cafeterias were very popular. This was so true for the older population. Good healthy food, plenty of choices, not over priced or set up to makes you overeat. They were also cost effective, many older couples ate dinner their every night. It was better than having to do all cooking at home.

I spent alot of time in hospitals when my husband was sick. I saw the same people over and over again. Turns out these were older couples having their meals, healthy choices, reasonable cost, no work at home. This was their usual breakfast or dinner spot.

I have never been a big Wendys fan, I enjoy KFC maybe twice a year. I loved Chili's but they closed the one closest to me. We had a Black Eyed Pea for many years but they also closed.

I am not one to travel but just a couple of miles to eat. I like places nearby!!

Panera is my choice too. Can't beat their broccoli cheese soup!

Penn Station has very good sandwiches too. Their fries are awesome!

I like Panda Express's Green Bean/Chicken stir fry, Favorite burgers are Whataburger, they have wonderful Onion Rings. Taco Bell another favorite.

Love the Whataburger, last time I went to a Taco Bell the Bean Burritos were like a tablespoon of beans wrapped in a piece of cardboard, I paid for extra onions and there were no onions. To say the least, I was very disappointed.

5 guys is the real deal on french fries, cooked in peanut oil. I don't prefer their well done burger not that it's bad, but the fries make up for it. They strive for quality and try to control as much of what they use to keep that quality.

I know the fries are fresh cut and usually Idaho grown if available, meat is fresh never frozen, and the burger toppings the same.

Have any of you tried the "no dough bowl" crustless pizza offered by some chains? That would seem to cut carbs and calories overall, but sodium and fat are probably still an issue. Maybe some of that can be alleviated by choosing toppings like grilled chicken and veggies and going with light or no cheese. But pretty soon what do you have left?

I don't eat red meat very often, but when I do I find Haystack Burgers in Dallas to have the best-tasting burgers. You can get them standard (lettuce, tomato, onion) but also with things like escabeche sauce and onion strips. Liberty Burger is also delicious and you can also get Bison which is more lean. Sometimes I eat their Ahi tuna burger with slaw for something more healthy. I also wouldn't rule out 5 Guys because whenever we are in the Galleria area we always go there.

For fried chicken, Mike's in the Preston Royal area, followed by Palmer's is the best I've ever tasted. I also love that Palmer's offers fried catfish. That is one of my "go to" comfort foods.

For something more healthy, we love Cava. Their bowls and wraps are some of the best we've had. None of these is particularly inexpensive but IMO all are worth it.
