What happened to the tiny homes for the homeless idea?

Just passing on something from memory about an ex President of the USofA, nicely known as "The Peanut Farmer" Jimmy Carter. Didn't he'd began a project to build houses for homeless?

Did they completed their goals or they didn't?

Habitat for Humanity was a project for Jimmy Carter after he left the presidency, don't think he started it but he played a major role. It is a charity that builds houses for people in need. Operates all over the world.

It may only be in California that Habitat for Humanity primarily repairs and/or modernizes older homes for struggling families and the elderly. They did this for Paxton's grandmother - my former foster son's grandma, my parents' next-door neighbor for decades and still friend of the family. She got a new roof, a new air-con system, and her old septic tank replaced at no charge. This was back in the 90s.

Maybe they also build from the ground up (in Cali), idk.

With all the stuff that goes into landfills because people just have to update that 20 year old bathroom and kitchen that is in perfectly good working order, you have to wonder how much of it could be reused. I have read the landfills are full of this stuff. I was also watching House Hunters on HGTV once and some realtor said updates should be done every 20 years. Do people buy into that? Lame. Lame. Lame.

We have a habitat for humanity store in my area. I go there on occasion. However one of the dumpster diving channels I watch which is in New Jersey has found good things in their dumpsters. That seems outrageous.

Many of the homeless have serious mental illness or drug adiction, or both.

Both mental illness and addiction are Primary Illnesses. That is they exist in and of themselves and don't spring from other issues though other issiues can make dealing with them more difficult. If you don't treat the drug and mental problems all the tiny homes, etc. in the world won't help. Like some people say "Homelessness is a drug and/or mental problem disguised as a housing problem."

Years ago as part of a tour, I visited a ramshackle community in Sofia, Bulgaria. It housed the Roma (also known as "gypsies" in the past when they move around). The worst part of that neighborhood was much cleaner and secure that the tent camps I see in some American cities. Go figure that.
