What happened to your mom's breadbox?

I saw this online. people used to have breadboxes in their kitchens. I can remember opening our tin one with a round knob.

I found a nice wooden breadbox in the thrift store. I use it as a night table.

i had a wooden slanted one and a stainless steel one ....
all our bread goes in the freezer now ...just take out what we need

I had a breadbox handed down to me but it took up a lot of room so I passed it along.

My mom and grandmas always had one, but I just don't have enough counter space to justify it.

This is mine-

I don't put sandwich-bread in the fridge because it goes moldy too quickly.
I do put rustic-type loaves in the freezer and take out what I need.
The bread box is also good for any cookies, crackers or rolls I may have.

I once saw a pic of a re-purposed bread box that held all the persons medications.

I did what millions and millions of blokes did, I keep my soldering iron and fluxes in it.

I use a drawer. It also holds the sweets.

No, I have one. The word 'bread' is written on the side.

My son has a metal box with a wood lid on the counter marked ‘bread’. The loaf of bread pretty much sits on top, like it’s a throne lol

I *think* my grandmother had one, but my mom never did... bread/buns/dinner rolls, etc. were kept in a nice deep kitchen drawer made just for that. Cookies and crackers, too, now that I think of it. As for me, I have a decorative box (open, though, not like a regular bread box) to keep those things.

We have an old wooden breadbox on the counter...we got it when my parents passed years ago. It probably dates back to the 1930's, and is still in good shape.

Growing up we always had a breadbox and even as a single adult male I used a breadbox...until I got married in 1988. The wife thought it was too old fashioned and after that the bread was kept in the cupboard.

Same here, except growing up we didn't have a pantry. Bread was just kept on the counter, next to the covered cake dish.
