What have you bought new or used today or lately?

I rarely buy things new but it's nice to get a great bargain sometimes. I've had a FitBit Flex for several years. I wanted something that would free my wrist for bracelets. The necklace was originally around $200. I found it on Amazon not too long ago for a quarter of the price. It's like your lights, something that makes us smile every day:D

This past August, my old riding mower was just about worn out, and I was ready to go to the store and drop $2300 on a new mower. I spoke to one of the neighbors who works on old mowers, and he turned me on to another neighbor who had recently bought a new Husqvarna, but couldn't use it because his property is so rocky. We got together, and I bought it for $1300. It only had 20 hours on it, and looks and runs like brand new. I changed the oil and all the filters, and have since put 30 more hours on it..and have found No problems. With 24HP, and a 48" cut, it cuts my mowing time in half.

We have a few thrift shops in my area. Wednesday is seniors day, everything half price. If I'm passing them I usually stop in. I wanted something decorative to put my olive oil in that I could stand out on the counter. This item was on the first shelf I looked at. Brand new, I could see the bottom and it had no grease residue. It didn't have a cork but I knew I had them at home. I got it for fifty cents. It made my day.olive oil bottle (800x600).jpg

I've bought a lot of used and new items of late having moved not too long ago, but most recently, I bought a refurbished roku tv. I never bought anything in this category before, so I bought an extended warranty to go with, only an additional $16, still keeping under what it would have cost new.

So far the tv works well, though I've not tried out the special features, really just like the brand and needed a tv so for now it works a o k as a regular tv.

Does a supply of CO2 ice melter pellets count? My husband gets them at a discount from work. SO he got 60 pounds of the stuff. Hope it lasts a while.

A poncey smelly candle, well two of them. Elaine likes them. They're quite posh, they crackle as they burn. One of her Xmas pressies.

In less than two weeks I've had all new tires installed and front end alignments done on mamas car and my pickup.......that's about all the spending I want to do for awhile.

Let's not talk about tyres. Had to have all 4 changed last month at just over ÂŁ200 each. Always have alignment done but that was a freebie by the garage. I get the tyres on my old jalopy nitrogen filled as opposed to air. Mostly because it's also a freebie.

Nothing, really, but I'm going to have to go tomorrow and find a vaporizer. I've got the great and venerable granddaddy of all colds and the air is so dry here it just makes it worse. I haven't had a bad cold in years, but this one is a real lulu!

We bought two new puppies. Not exactly bought, I guess "rescued" is the term, since we got them from a shelter. $150.00 per dog and $172.00 in vet services feel a lot like buying to me.

Rescue is such a self serving term, it strikes at my truth center as a misused word such as hero as become.. These pups were at a no kill shelter,so it was no heroic act on our part to bring them home. They are so cute that someone else would have snatched them up if they had gotten there first.

I was dismayed that probably 90% of the dogs were bully breeds. Apologies to fureverywhere and other breed lovers, but these breed need to be banned. Not due to their inherent nature, but due to the irresponsibility of the seemingly majority of their owners and breeders.

Our latest "great find" was in October. I saw an unusual ad in our local Bargain Hunter for a scooter listed under Motorcycles. I called the phone number just on the off chance that it might be what I was looking for. The person described it as "one of those scooters that old people use", in other words, a mobility scooter which is what I was looking for. We made an appointment to view that evening. It was a large 4-wheel Shoprider in apparent good condition and I asked the price. He said "what do you offer?" I hate it when people say that but I knew what I was willing to pay so I offered $500 hoping I wouldn't hurt his feelings. He said " How about $400, the batteries are about shot."

Adopted would be the correct term. But you did create 2 spaces in that no-kill shelter that may be filled by dogs from a kill shelter. So, good on you!

I completely disagree that any breed should be banned due to irresponsible dog owners and breeders. I prefer to see irresponsible people punished.

I agree.

I got a new stainless steel table for the kitchen to put appliances on the bottom shelf mostly and prepare thinks on top. I love it.

So nice to have everything within easy reach. Easy to clean also.
Actually it wasn't that easy to clean. I tried glass cleaner and water and it smudged. I had to order some special stainless steel cleaner on Amazon and now it looks beautiful! Yes, it's nice to have things within reach. :)
