Got that so right...so very right @OneEyedDivaFor me:
~I need to be at the ocean as often as possible (it's necessary sometimes)
You are a very young 55 years old, and you and your husband are such an adorable couple. From my experience so far, it only gets better. My partner just turned 56, and I just turned 64. I used to resent all the AARP mailings, but now I've just embraced it all. I was happy to retire at 63 and go on Social Security.I will be turning 55 years old in just a few days and that is when many places start issuing Senior discounts and other Senior Services. Will I feel like a Senior Citizen, I highly doubt it. I will still keep myself fresh with continuing to talk walks and hikes and will just keep doing the same stuff I have done for many years.
I also have had a pretty sweet life as I have been a stay at home mom for my two daughters who are now both grown ages 25 and 23. The oldest is married and pregnant with twins and no longer living at home and the youngest will most likely be most out with her boyfriend come this Summer. So I will be a housewife. You are a very young 55 years old, and you and your husband are such an adorable couple. From my experience so far, it only gets better. I also still do all the things I used to do. I started going to the gym regularly in my late 40's, and I still do. 5 days a week, 1 hour each session, doing strength training and elliptical. I also walk by our lake, usually 2 miles each time. You have many more years of enjoyment! Glad to have you in the forum!
It's finally hit me that I really am going to die one day, and that day is getting closer. Anything I really want to get done first can no longer be put off. What Have You Learned About Yourself Since Becoming A Senior?
I know what you mean Feywon. My sister and I were talking about that same thing. She used to be the Energizer Bunny but she's slowed down quite a bit out of necessity. She is a couple of years older than me. I've noticed I tire more easily and quickly now too. So I have to remind myself not to take on too much in one day. That as flexible and adaptable as i have always been, learning to pace myself when it comes to physical tasks is one of the hardest lessons for me. I'm getting there, but it is still a struggle.
I love your evolutionary process MDB!I will turn 80 later this year and if I have learned anything, it is that I am still evolving and learning.
My body dishes out consequences when i do too much now. When i was young, in a way it rewarded me when i was young--I always slept extremely well after pushing myself and that was when i was i was still an insomniac.I know what you mean Feywon.
