What I Learned Today From "How The Universe Works"

Even if we could travel at the speed of light we can never reach what we will call the "edge" of the universe (there is no edge). The universe is expanding at a rate of 13 miles per second faster than the speed of light. So we would be chasing our tail.

I also learned what we have seen of the universe is called the observable universe meaning the universe extends beyond the observable universe and science can't guess what is out there, how big it is and what physics apply there. The more I learn the more freaky it gets.
 

It is a wonderful series. There are a lot of wonderful documentaries out there. Of all the things we watch, my husband and I like the astronomy series, documentaries and the stuff on quantum physics the most. There are brilliant minds who make it possible for us to know these things. Years and years of engineering create the instruments and space probes that bring this to us. I am awed by their minds.
