What is the news media's priority?

Okay, I already know the answer to this, but I was a bit peeved this morning when I turned on Good Morning America and the #1 story was that 8 people died at a concert in Houston. #2 was the fact that a significant infrastructure bill that could benefit all of us has been passed. Ridiculous.

Doom and gloom, and reporters who think that it is OK to shove a microphone into the face of someone who has just had a loved one murdered.
There are thousands of lovely, happy-go-lucky stories out there, but to the media, they are out of fashion.

We all gripe about the media, but they are only mirroring our concerns. Some may think a mutli-trillion $ infrastructure bill, which affects millions in more important than the murder of 8. But for most of us, things that happen in DC, are the biggest yawn ever. So the media is going to satisfy what the most desire. The media is catering to what most want to make the biggest buck. You can't blame them for that.
BTW, in my opinion " TV news channels & talk radio" is purely bias BS.

Good points here. It is known that the "doom and gloom" by media is a psychological ploy filled with negative bias - it feeds on our survival instincts. Our ancestors needed to know what dangers lay ahead, when traveling, hunting, etc so they were always sniffing out any negative events that would cause a survival extinction. It has not changed. People want to know what negativity is out there, and wait with abated breath, like the audience at the Colliseum, and the media dishes it up. It is has been said by positive psychologists (and some here on this site) that it would be nice to hear about happy stories. I agree. That's why I only read the news online so I can pick and choose what I want to read. I don't watch news on TV anymore.
