It's just under 2 inches long and has a spring mechanism. The only thing Google pulled up was a coil egg strainer. I don't think this is one, unless it for a hummingbird egg.
What is this? Found outside on my deck this morning.

Looks like a bi-metallic strip..maybe from an old thermometer gauge.

Could very well be. My old plastic thermometer blew off the porch and broke earlier this year. Thanks for the ID.
