I'm an early riser too, usually between 4 and 6.....I've always been a morning person, but then I fizzle out around 5 or 6 in the afternoon, so I go to bed with the chickens.
I was born nocturnal, the only time I ever saw a sunrise was if I hadn't gotten to bed yet.
I still operate on shiftwork hours which change over every few weeks. Mostly turn in around 1.30 2am but gradually that stretches to 3.30 even to 5am sometimes. Then I go back to 'normal' for a while. I get up when I wake up. Sometimes that's 10am and sometimes, like today it's 3 hours after I went to bed. aaaagh. There will be nod-offs at the keyboard this afternoon, guaranteed.
Have no problems sleeping at all, just do it at strange times. I can nap sitting up in 5 to 10 minute grabs and that's plenty to get me through the day. I don't take comfy granny naps as I'd sleep too long and stay up all night and the dog would get all confused and it's just too damned complicated explaining why you're asleep at 1pm when you aren't working any more and.... siiiiigh.
Many older people seem to become night owls after they retire, I always was, but strange that so many change. Have any of you changed that way or do I just know some weird people?
testify sister! My god yes, if i stay in bed too long my back kills me.
That is the schedule I'd like...bed at 11 to 12 and up 8 to 9 am. For some reason, the last year, I wake up at 2 to 4 am and cannot go back to sleep. The lack of sleep has made me, well...bitchy, I must say! I think it's the medications, illnesses I'm fighting.I used to get up at 4 or 5'oclock am, depending on my shift at the time. Now that I'm retired, I'm in bed between 11-12 midnight, and up between 8-9 am.![]()
