What Is Your Target Blood Sugar Reading After Eating?

Or what reading would you like to stay below. When I was first diagnosed and got the booklet to track my readings, the suggested target was 180 for two hours after a meal. Now I feel that's too high so I'd like for my readings to in the 150's range generally speaking. Since I don't test every day, I check my 7, 14 & 30 day averages. Last time I checked they were in the 144-147 range. Yesterday I went to test and after sticking myself saw that my meter was saying I need a new battery. Ugggh! Good think I can't feel the finger sticks in the finger I used.

What's your target? Do you keep track of your averages?

My targets are the ones you listed. It may be slightly high, but I'd rather maintain slightly high than deep lows or spiked highs.

I saw a Diabetic Educator after my diagnosis and she wanted me at 140 or below 2 hours after a meal and at 126 or below after fasting at least 4 hours. So that's what I've always aimed for. I usually am below 140 at 2 hours after a meal but not always. Once in awhile I'll get a 160 reading. Usually after 2 hours I'm much lower than 140, though, maybe between 90 something and 120.

Admittedly, I don't keep track of my blood sugars as much as I should. When I check, the readings are between 125 and 250. I take a shot of insulin when the reading is 250 or more.

My BG is around 250 after eating but my girlfriend has been 340 to 600 after eating because she eats like a healthy person. I take insulin before eating.
Apparently we are not using the same testing method because 340 - 600 mg/dl would be way too high. What method of measurement does your meter use?
@mike4lorie and @drifter Seems like you must be using the mmol/l measurement (?)
