I can remember something very briefly when I was two years old. My parents lived in a 2nd floor apartment. I can remember my dad holding me and letting me look out the front window and down at the street with all the cars going by. All the cars were black. It was around 1951.

The next thing I remember was when they were building our new house.. There were boards on the floor and I tripped over them..

At around three years old.. Dad was walking me down the sidewalk and I tripped on an uneven part of the cement and he held me up by my arm.

At Four.. I remember running around in the front yard singing "I'm four years old!! I'm four years old"!!! I remember feeling so happy!!

After that the memories are more distinct and more often..

What is the very earliest thing you can remember of your life???

My sister was two years older than me. When she outgrew her Mary Jane shoes, my mother put them on me.

I think I was 3 or 4 yrs. old @ the time. They fit; they were shoes. I didn't know any different.

(But this is between us here. Let's not let this get around! OK? )

I can remember being at a big swimming lake and my father swimming out to a float with me on his back. He put me up on the float and I promptly fell off. I described the memory to my mother and she said I couldn't have been more than 18 months at the time as it happened on vacation.

My gosh you were little and to remember that!

I think my earliest memory was when I was probably three and my uncle lifted me up onto the back of the huge black farm horse named King. I can remember the smell, his warm broad back, the feeling of his mane hair under my knee. To this day, the smell of a horse is like perfume to me. When my horse hasn't just had a good roll in the mud, I love snuggling up just in the hollow where her cheek and neck meets and inhaling deeply. Takes me back to a gentler time in my life.

I was 3 or 4 and my sister and I were playing in the living room. My dad came home from work and I got up and ran to him yelling 'daddy'.

About 4-5 years old ... going to a MLB game in Chicago with my cousin Dennis and our Moms, and throwing peanuts around!
