Number one is Horror, followed by Sci-Fi, though I have seen some really boring Sci-Fi movies. Ones that I can not get to the end.
Love Documentaries, especially about the Universe.
I love period Movies. Seeing how people lived and their dress fascinates me.
There are so many great period movies.
The Importance of Being Earnest
The Happy Prince
The Miniaturist
Far from the Maddening Crowd
are a few that come to mind.

Yes, I'm married. But I remembered the quote wrongly. Just looked it up. It goes:
"Love! Sure, love. Fire and flames for one year, ashes for thirty."
If I look at all the divorces of my relatives and other people I know, it seems that the author, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, could be right.
Btw, the movie "The Leopard" with Burt Lancaster as Don Fabrizio is one of my favourite movies.

I just looked up a review of it and it sounds intriguing. I will have to find it to watch it.

There are many cross-over blends of the categories given, too. I love science fiction horror themes, for example things like the Alien or Terminator franchises. There are even horror comedies. These should not be confused with books and movies that are simply horrible, as in badly done…

Yee I know there are combinations of genres and that's why I made the Other answer. Thanks for your enlightening post.

Hate romantic books or films.. ugh!... True crime.. Biographical. ( some might say this and the previous are intertwined )... Documentaries... strictly Non fiction when it comes to reading material..

Used to devour crime novels years ago.. Christie, Conan Doyle etc... only been reading Non Fiction now for the last 20 years.. Just don't have a good enough imagination for fiction..

dont like romance novels. mystery/scifi/drama. I like books with the same characters, most scifi movies though I have seen some b grade that were bad. used to be a man from one of the southeastern states owned a junk yard and made cheap b grade movies using the wrecked cars, hired locals off the street, some werent to bad.

I checked everything but comedy.
I have watched movies on music (Elvis, etc), drama (too many to name), horror (American Horror Story), science fiction (Star Trek), nature (anything with David Attenborough narrating)
Books are drama, science fiction, some western

I love mysteries, literary fiction, other fiction by good writers, a smattering of scifi, and nonfiction about all sorts of things. I am not a big reader of romance novels. I don't read super-scary books (Salem's Lot, by Stephen King, for example).

Movies - I like to see them once in awhile, but not often. When I do, I like it when they are humorous and the visuals are light, not dark. I like well-done mysteries, but not usually from books I've read, except for the novels by Thomas Harris (Silence of the Lambs, etc.). Horror movies, books, and tv shows are not for me. They seem real, for some reason I don't know.

I have favorites in all movie genres.
Deep Impact
2012
Forrest Gump
The Devil's Advocate
The Da Vinci Code
Terminator series
The Godfather, Part Two
The Devil Wears Prada
Julie and Julia

Way too many to list!
