What kind of sounds bother you the most, even if it sounds strange to say.

I'm not sure what it is, but the sound of knocking on doors, especially wooden doors, really bothers me. There's a pizza commercial on TV now that starts off with the sound of rapping on a wooden door. Something from my childhood? I really don't know, but I hate it.

Snoring, women singing soprano, cuckoo clocks, loud TV commercials, the scary & loud tornado siren.

Gunshots. In the UK it's usually serious.

Where the heck do you live Laurie that you hear gunshots?... here the only gunshots we hear are from the gamekeepers, or clay pigeon shooters...

I hate the sound of any woman screaming in tv shows..grates on my last nerve... can't stand any repetitive noise either..tap dripping, etc..

Dogs barking
Loud arguing
Lawn mowers & leaf blowers
Car alarms
Motorcycles
Low battery beep on smoke detector
Loud music from cars
Doors slamming

Have you ever been around peacocks? they scream like a woman in great distress.

Lawnmowers or other small engines back firing.

Second thought , I’ll scoop AC ‘s list. That sounds close enough to mine but I’ll add people that eat food or chew gum loudly.

oh yes., that darn beep beep when trucks back up. Yes.

Kids that that are throwing a fit in the stores and the sounds echos while the mothers continue shopping. This happened to me today.

I was about to ask the mother if her daughter had a medical issue or just throwing a fit.

Any repetitive sound. I have a white noise machine. When I set it for continuous play, it replays the sound after a certain time and I know when it happens so I lay in bed waiting for it to happen and can't sleep. Defeats the purpose.

Some noise bothers me just because of its source. We had acres and acres of farm land nearby. The farmer would be out planting his crops on large noisy farm equipment. I slept like a baby. Eventually the land was sold to a developer. The noise he made was far less than the farm equipment but because I didn't want to see the farm go my stomach would churn listening to it.All psychological I guess.

I don't enjoy the sound of trucks backing up, for safety reasons I'd rather they beep than not beep.

Oh...thought of another one ...friends live across from an elementary school, and I'd only been to their home at night. Once I had to drop something off noonish during recess time and OMG the noise! But they're used to it.

Thumps from the tenants upstairs at bedtime above my bedroom just when you think whatever they were doing they quit doing and I can at last get to sleep, but then comes more thumps.

Sirens-when I was a kid a fire station about three miles had one that when activated could be heard drifting down the valley. It had this really low droning sound.I have no idea what it's purpose was but it was loud enough to to be heard over the TV.

Soft sounds: people who crack their knuckles or suck their teeth. Loud sounds: motorcycles loud enough to rattle your windows and drown out television or conversation...
