What Movies Were Disappointments? Which Were Surprisingly Good?

Disappointments:
2001: A Space Odyssey (WTH?!)
Independence Day: Resurgence (not nearly as good as the first)
Super 8 (not as Sci Fi as I expected)
American Fiction (I didn't find it to be nearly as good as touted, any humor was lost on me and too many F & MF bombs)
Kiss Of The Spider Woman (another WTH?)

My husband and I used to subscribe to Optimum Triple Play (landline, internet & cable). For a while, it included free movie tickets on Tuesday nights, So we went to see movies that we otherwise wouldn't have, just to have date nights. There was such a big hype about Slumdog Millionaire that we checked it out. I didn't expect to like it at all but I loved it ! I also liked Grand Torino (Clint Eastwood). One night I was watching a movie that went into early morning. The Green Mile came on.after. Since it was late, I expected I'd just watch a little of it. I wound up staying up for the entire movie. I'll probably come up with more titles later.

After reading Gone With the Wind and enjoying it greatly and for years hearing about what a great movie it was, I was disappointed. I suspect it suffered from over hype! I've gotta say I loved ET.

I adored several of the above movies: 2001; American Fiction; and Kiss of the Spider Woman. But I also adored Slumdog Millionaire and Grand Torino.

Hated: anything with the new Disney-owned Muppets. Not anywhere as funny or good as the originals. I walked outta the theater

Loved: The Man Who Invented Christmas about Charles Dickens and starring Dan Stevens as CD and Christopher Plummer as Scrooge.

I was recently disappointed in a so-called noir film with great actors: A Crime of Passion w/ Barbara Stanwyck and Sterling Hayden. Basically a mess.
