What should I name my new kitten?

Some of those names are actually on the original list! I guess we think alike!

My last 3 cats had names that ended in the long "E" sound: Andy, Opie, Barney. So I was looking to avoid that ending this time.

BTW: the new kitten will be a male, short haired, orange or ginger tabby.

Well, Tater could be sweet potato. (color). If they don't make tater tots out of sweet potatoes, they really should.

I voted for Nugget.

Our females were named Cleo, Nike (because she squeaked when she jumped), Sasha and Misha. Misha was a Russian Blue, which is why we chose that name. We named all the females.

Our males have been Milo, Andy and Bugsy. We named Milo because we found him on the street and we just liked the name. We adopted Andy and Bugsy, along with their names. Andy is a cutie-pie so it fits him perfectly. Bugsy has a round face, round ears and paws, big eyes and no tail. Bugsy fits him to a tee.

Hard to pick a wrong name for a cat!

OMG!!! Sweet Tater is what I was originally thinking!!!

From there I went to Tater Chip & Tater Tot.

I really liked Sweet Tater....but, by my own rules, there can not be an "S" in the name.

But, still....

My son cracks me up, he has named his cats after his sister's dogs, I'm not sure he did this consciously....

I have called most of my pets Goober or Goobie as a pet name for them but they also had their regular names, The first time I would see my new pet baby a name would pop in my head and that would be their name. The only exception is my dog Suzy whom I named after a previous pet in the family.

My best friend's name is Holly. My Mom named her cat after my friend. The cat needed a date to celebrate her birthday, so she decided to use my Aunt's b-day.

It's confusing enough, at times....but your grand cats and dogs must be so much worse!!

The best is to wait until you have the kitten, then it'll come to you.

Also, cat colour, female or male needs to be taken in consideration. Approval from the kitten with a positive meow response helps a lot . If they like their name it's much easier. Meanwhile, you can check this site out for ideas

I'd have to see a picture before I could vote. We always rescued kitties and our last 2 were named Clancy and Sara. Clancy was already named when we adopted him so we kept it. He was a Flame Point Siamese and the smartest cat we ever had. That boy was amazing. Sara is not so smart but we love her anyway. She is a Main Coon and we refer to her as our "barn kitty". Clancy passed away in 2021 from liver disease. Sara is still with me and has been a lot of company since my husband passed away in October.

They are watching butterflies that hatched that summer. We had tons of them.

When I adopted Opie from the Humane Society, they told me that he would be a short haired cat. As it turns out, he was mostlya Main Coon Cat. He was also wonderful! He died when he was one year old. (see blog)

I have had an affection for Coon Cats ever since then.

Years ago, I used to read a comic online. One of the characters was "the key kat lady". It took me a while to figure out that it was baby talk for "the kitty cat lady"!!!
