What State Were You Born In & What State(s) Did You Move To?

For those not in the U.S. you may have provinces or other terminology to describe the different areas of your residence(s). Please feel free.

I was born in New Jersey and never moved out of state. About 20 years ago, my husband and I talked about moving south and even looked at a few houses in Sumter, S.C. (two were being sold and some were new trailers on the lot). But we never seriously considered making that move because although we both have relatives in S.C., we knew we had too many ties right here.

I was born in Chicago, and left home for Montana when I was 17, then on to Arizona, from there to Maine, back to Montana, and then to Virginia. If someone asks where I'm from, I always say, "I'm from Montana." I spent more of my life there than any other place, and it's a part of my identity. I have never taken pride in where I lived, except in Montana. But I watched Montana go from a pristine wilderness to an environmental wreck, and I couldn't bear watching that any longer. So now where I'm at is just where I live, not what I'm part of. I'll always miss Montana, at least what it once was.

I'm so New York City I can be a caricature for it. Although living over 25 years elsewhere; with a great preference for olde England & New I'm a native New Yorker and I love to complain about my city alongside my fellow NYers. It's a mess out there but also gorgeous & exciting! The noise is killing me though; constant neverending sirens is making me yearn for some quiet but I can't up & move due to no car/money and need/want to live where my tiny family is. At least they are able to enjoy city life--Broadway, Parks, restaurants, Museums, and they have a car for 'escapes.'

I was born in Australia. Perth, Western Australia.

When I graduated high school, I took off. That was in ‘68. Travelled around Australia, went to New Zealand, travelled around there, (never made it to the South Island sadly) then came to the US.

Stayed in California for many years from ‘72-83 .. LA area .. then moved to Huntsville Alabama. Moved back to LA in ‘87, then a few years after that moved to Nashville and have been here ever since.

Born in NY, moved to Colorado when I was 20, then to South Carolina a few years later. Then to New Jersey 4 years after that. Pennsylvania 10 years later, then back to New York where I've been for the last 22 years. Not planning on ever moving again, if I can help it.

My wife and I were both born in Colorado. We met in Oklahoma and married back in Colorado, where we then lived for a while. We left Colorado, job related. First, I worked for the same company in Virginia, then in Tennessee. I was with that company for over 17 years. We retired in Kansas....life is adventure!

Growing up on Vancouver Island, my dream was to live in Vancouver (city).

With "then" husband and 3 children we moved to Alberta in the 70's. After marriage break up, I moved back to Vancouver. Sold our Alberta house and was able to buy a house in Vancouver for ALMOST the price of the Alberta house. (at the time, Alberta's housing market was raging; and Vancouver's market was in a slump.) 40 years later, I am still in the same house.
