I used to be so cool!

My cat doesn't like cold leftover pet food from the fridge. So my wife caught me...(drum roll)...yep...heating it up in the microwave for the cat. I'm officially a wimpy slave to my cat!

You might not believe it, but people who stay with holistic medicine don't eat food or drinks which are made or even heated up in the microwave. For example, my French cousin made coffee always in the evening only to warm it up in the microwave the next morning. I preferred to drink the coffee cold to avoid the microwave at all circumstances. We don't even have a microwave oven.

I don't cook, I nuke. No microwaving????? Bunch of heathens!!!!!! :)

...a friend that's a former Yoga teacher shuns Western Medicine, only uses holistic. I'm actually surprised that she hasn't poisoned herself, but that's a long story in itself. :unsure: Anyway, she follows the way out there media and swears that microwave ovens are unsafe for heating foods, in some way.

At least we haven't poisened ourselves yet. But I agree that some of these people are even for us too fanatic.
 
But I really have to giggle sometimes.

In my 20's I wore a leather jacket...bombed around town in my old classic convertible...smoked Players cigarettes...etc.

Now...pushing 60... I'm reduced to wearing spandex and heating up cat food in the microwave.

Advice to my younger self? "Never buy a cat!" ;)
 
my first impression of the title of this thread was... recipes for preparing CATS!?! NOOOOOOOO!

a MILLION years ago, there was a rumor going around work that a local Chinese food place used questionable meats in their dishes. during a silly, BORING day, we concocted a faux take-out menu. included things like...

... sweet & sour cat

... cat and broccoli

... General Tso's (spelling) Cat

i'm an old childless cat lady and would never do anything like that to Ms Pi!
 
I'm not sure if it works this way with cats, but if you have two dogs, you won't have the problem of one of them not eating their cold food. He either eats it or the other one takes care of it immediately after he eats his own food.

When I feed the cats for my friend across the street, they each get a scoop of dry food and share a can of wet food. The shy one will NOT come out of hiding while I'm there, even to play, so I'm sure the other one makes out like a bandit as soon as I'm back out the door.
 
I feed my cats their fancy feast can in two installments. I take the second installment of the can out of the fridge at least 1/2 hour before. When it's cold, I put it in the oven or cupboard. But in the summer, I have to put it in the fridge.

When my tabby was sick because I gave her too much hair ball medications, to get her hydrated back the next day, I gave them canned all day with some added water. It worked. She was better. I did heat it in the microwave but tested every area for no hot spots.
