What was your first big person's TV show?

When you were a kid, you were in bed by 8 PM. Then you got to stay up till 11 PM. So what was the first TV show you saw that wasn't all cartoons? What was your first big person's TV show?

I think it was the Milton Burle show. (Uncle Milty as he was called!) It may have been Ed Sullivan or Lawrence Welk. My parents always watched variety shows like that.

I was toilet trained early. My very first memory of anything is being diapered and watching the Milton Berle Show. My father, who was doing the diapering, laughed so hard he pricked me with a safety pin. I remember seeing 'Uncle Miltie' in a dress. He looked lovely.

Wagon Train!

By the time I was allowed to stay up late I was living in the Middle East where we never had a television. However, when we came home on our annual 'leave', I remember sitting with my grandmother watching a new series called Wagon Train. She loved Major Seth Adams (Ward Bond) while my preference was for Flint McCullough (Robert Horton). :love:

We lived out in the boonies and got TV after cities had it. My first adult show was the evening news, every evening, sitting with my father and getting an education. That went on for several years.

Nothing more exciting that looking into the future with Buck Rodgers in the 25th. century.

Sorry, when I was a kid we only had radio! I tried to stay awake until midnight to hear Marlene Dietrich sing "Lily Marleen" but never managed!

I watched a lot of TV when I was a kid. I remember watching Perry Mason, surprisingly, that came on at 8 PM. moviequeen1 mentioned "What's My Line?", it came on @ 10:30 . My mom loved Jack Parr @ 11:30 PM. My room was upstairs and I used to sneak down the top of the stair to watch it. I also remember Steve Allen, on late night, too.

What dominates in my mind, from asking myself the OP question;
is unfortunately, the World News reports of the day.....
not good effects for children or other humans.:eek:o_O:oops::cry::(

Also, the Westerns with scenes that terrified me.

Next, I do remember happily,
the Ed Sullivan shows.

Good question. The first "adult" show I remember looking forward to watching every week and knowing the actual airtime was probably Get Smart. My parents watched the show too but it was the first show I recall watching, even if they were not around to watch it with me.

It's hard to remember specifically, but I think it was the Red Skelton Show. I do remember watching shows like Combat and Rat Patrol with my dad.
