What will the August 21 solar eclipse view be in your area? Total, partial or none at all

It will be about 60% coverage in Southern California. I would love to see totality, but that's not to be. I understand that traffic is likely to be pretty bad along its path. I bought a solar filter for one of my telescopes and special glasses to view it.

Don

Will you watch? with proper eye protection, of course.

We've got hotel reservations at the Isle of Capri Casino, in Boonville, MO. for that Sunday night, and will hang around until late Monday afternoon. The full eclipse should pass about 1/2 mile north of the casino, at about 1PM. so we should be in an optimum place for the viewing. The cities/towns in Missouri are expecting a massive inflow of people for this event, so traffic, etc., might be a real zoo. I've got the glasses, and have used them already, to make sure they work.

It will be a .71 here, should be quite noticeable(hopefully). I have a welding hood with a #10 lens, for viewing the solar eclipse.

I have seen it before. Twice. Once in grade school.

It really is no big deal. It just gets dark during the day like twilight.

I don't have the courage to look at the sun even with special glasses. I can watch it on television or I can build a pin hole light box out of a shoe box and put a pin hole on one end and project it at the back of the box to see the phases develop and recede. An eclipse of the moon is more interesting when Earth puts its shadow on the moon.

Partial .93 by me, I went to Walmart today to pick up a few things and there was a display at the front of the store selling cheap eclipse glasses for $1, so I picked up a pair to share with my husband. It starts around 10:30am by me and ends around 1:15pm. We won't watch the whole thing, probably be at the park with our dog during the best time, may take my camera just to take a picture of how darkened things look around us.

Cheap eclipse glasses? I don't have that kind of trust.

We're going to be out in a boat on a lake in South Carolina in the middle of the path of totality. I'm praying for clear weather......it's really going to be a bummer if it's overcast/raining, which it has been a lot this summer. Fingers crossed. Toes crossed.

I'm also hoping for good weather. Accuweather is saying the day should be partly cloudy on that day...but that is just their best guess this far ahead. The local cities/towns are gearing up for a mass influx of viewers. In Boonville, where we intend to go, the govt. offices and schools will be shut down and the town is making preparations to keep as many parking lots, etc., as possible, open for the "tourists". We reserved a room weeks ago, and good thing because there isn't a hotel room left open anywhere near where this eclipse will be tracking. We should be almost dead center in its path.

The peak will probably last only a couple of minutes, with an hour or so of partial before and after. Since this is the first time in almost 400 years that this area has seen such a phenomenon, I would hate to miss the opportunity...we may be getting older, but we still like to participate in events so long as we are able....just mingling with others in the event will be far more rewarding than just watching it on the evening news....IMO.

Worst case...we will have some good meals and some fun at the casino......

I invited myself to go up to Clarkesville Tennessee and visit my son and his family that week. It's supposed to go total there.

Every time someone says solar eclipse I think of this:

It's right after the 3 minute mark.

Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun

I guess here in central Oklahoma we'll see most of it. I hope it's something to behold otherwise I'm going to quit watching.
