What you need to know about the law that allows hunters on your land

This story was originally published in November 2017.

Maine had more than 219,000 licensed hunters in 2016, and those hunters find spots to recreate in a heavily forested state. One thing you might not know is that hunters generally are allowed to pursue and shoot game on your property, whether you granted permission or not.

It's pretty much the same in Missouri....hunters can enter private property that is not marked. Here, we can mark the trees with Purple paint, and that serves the same as No Trespassing signs, etc. We're in the middle of dense forestland, with plenty of Deer. Some of the locals hunt...I used to...and they are pretty careful to stay on their own property. Usually, one of my son-in-laws, and grandsons come over to hunt, and I just standby ready to haul the deer out of the woods in my tractor bucket.

I did internet search for hunting in PA, This is what it said:
One of the most common legal issues to arise during hunting season is that of property rights. Contrary to the belief of some, hunting on private property without permission is trespassing – even if the property is unoccupied, and not posted or fenced. In Pennsylvania, you may not hunt private property without the permission of the landowner.

I know a woman with a lot of forested land in PA, she hates hunting season because hunters are always knocking on her door.
