I was talking with someone the other day and mentioned that I have lived in the Phoenix area for 50 plus years and she was amazed that I have stayed in the Phoenix area for that long. I guess that is a rather long time compared to others that I know. So now I am wondering what's the longest that others have lived in a certain area.

Lived in Lubbock, TX forty-seven years, forty-four in the same house. Mickey Mouse!

I am still living in the same neighborhood from when I was born and most of my parents families lived in the same neighborhood. Now after being married for 52 yrs my husband wants to move to a smaller house closer to where my daughter is living and she wants us near her so she can be there for us. So now for the last month we have been looking for a house in her area. I hope we can find something we like and we have already had an offer on our home.

I've lived in three states: New Jersey, Washington (state), and Maryland. New Jersey was the longest, the first 38 years of my life.

The longest I've lived in a specific area was about 4 years. My parents moved around a lot, and so have I.

The house I currently live in is the first one I've ever bought, and I don't plan to move again.

60 years in this house. Watched it being built.
I envy you. You must have comfort in having roots. I moved every 3 years, which was an interesting experience and fun in many ways, but have always felt the need to move. As a result, I have no old friends (no social media for staying in touch back then).

I've lived here 17 years now but my kids are always feeling the need to move. One went back to her birthplace (CA), one is leaving Denver and headed to Europe traveling solo (eek) from place to place doing photo-journalism (mostly health retreats), one works in Alaska for a season then travels around the mainland until another fishing season comes, and one wants to travel but her boyfriend doesn't so she is now in her own apartment trying to leave him but they're dating and it's heating up...love...yup, love always gets in the way :love_heart::rolleyes:

Lots of variety here. My dad , who is now 87 , and oldest sister have lived in the area longer. My dad has now been in the Phoenix area for almost 60 years now with the exception of a couple of years when he moved us back to the DC area back in the early 70's.

I'm going to move again one of these days but don't know where I'm going. Know where I hope I'll go but that has not been firmly established yet. Guess that's what it means being a drifter.

I have been in the present town I live in for 15 years and in this apt. for 5+ years. I have lived in Ohio all of my 60 years except for a very short time in CA.

Sassycakes, will you be making a long move? I'm hoping to move about 25 miles from where I am now. I want to get off this mountain and down in the flatlands.

I moved about every 2 years when I was growing up and more than that after I got married. I've been in this place on the mountain for 23 years now. I've lived 36 years in California and I love it here for the most part. I do miss Oregon sometimes though. I was 5 months in FL while my husband was on a job there. I love FL. I also lived 1 year in Colorado and 18 months in OK. Colorado was fine but Oklahoma is only bad memories. I've been in about 3/4 of the states and I love this country.

Still live in the house where I was born in 1933. My grandfather had it built 10 years earlier and owned it at the time I was born. It was passed to my mom and then to me but always shared by 2 or 3 generations of family so I grew up here. I'll have been here 84 years come next month.

A side note - - -my grandmother died in the hospital but my grandfather, mom, and dad, all died here at home. Hopefully I can leave this earth from the same place.
