When can optimism be annoying?

this may sound sexist ....
but women are generally better at the cheering up aspect of a caring role. being able to cheer up the sick and elderly for example. i really respect that.

Studies have found that if you fake a smile it releases chemicals like dopamine and serotonin in the brain which is very healing.

"Too much optimism" may appear to be unrealistic but shouldn't be annoying. I say good for them for trying to focus on the positives.

Edit:
Hypo...Debbie Downer is a former SNL comedy skit actress who was overly pessimistic...talk about annoying lol

I especially hate it when someone says "Everything is going to be all right" when clearly it isn't

I suppose I'd rather deal with someone upbeat than a Debbie Downer

I'm not good with either end of that spectrum pole if continuous
But, if a choice had to be made, I'd take the Debbie Downer
I tend to laugh at hardship when it happens
Yes, laugh...out loud
It's a form of crazy I'm quite comfortable with
(Heh, keeps the enemy off kilter)
I need a workmate or fellow trail hand to talk about the impossibilities while I think about the possibilities
That's always worked for me
.....aaaand, they're fun to poke fun at after the sh*t is wiped off the fan

Good question Hypo. How do you do that? And your many thread topics are so engaging and fun.

It's certainly possible for a Christian to be pessimistic about things that are not meant for God's perfect plan but rather for Satan's plan. BUT not so much as to define them as a Pessimist.

Pessimism can't define who a Christian is because some of the results of being a Christian are "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control".

He says, "All things work together for the good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose."
