When NBC Shows Celebrities at the Olympics, What Do You Think?

Oh I really hate how NBC TV is covering the games. I’m sure they are doing it badlly to try to compel people to buy a Peacock subscription.

But one part I really hate is when they cutaway to a shot of celebrities in the audience. My reaction is usually, “So? Who cares?"

I don't sit and watch at length, so I haven't noticed what you're describing, which is just part of the show biz / entertainment thing.

Try the USA channel, it's the only other channel on Dish Network that I've found that's carrying coverage of the games.

What killed the Olympics (and NASCAR, etc) to me is the plethora of advertisements and the focus on stuff other than the sport activity.

Heck, that is what ruined the local TV news - the increase in ad times and attention to fluff.

I only watch the Olympics to see and hear what the celebrities have to say. They add some spice to my otherwise dull and meaningless existence. And they tell me what to think regarding all the important issues in the world today. The athletes are just a chance to use the bathroom between the celebrity interviews. Or get another drink. 🍸

Do we have a sarcasm emoji?

Too many commercials and too much fluff and goofy nonsense. The coverage of the opening day floating parade was pathetic. They obviously did not know or care about the French history and culture as they missed opportunity after opportunity to shed some light on why we were seeing certain performances as the boats passed. Just awful.

I agree that the NBC coverage of the games sucks. Instead of what's happening in the arena, we get interviews with some drug addled rapper, or a "celebrity"-meaning anyone who has two 'friends' on Facebook.

Some years ago, I was watching a baseball game on Fox, when suddenly the camera focused on two of the male stars of That 70's Show. It looked so staged. They tried to act surprised that they were on camera. Then of course, the commentator named the 2 actors, the name of the show and when it was on.

I think about how celebrities rale about the climate then jump in their SUV to got to an airport and board their private jet.

I am watching the free on tv. I do not care enough to criticize how a network puts something together…just let me watch and enjoy. Tom cruise was great to see…still eeye candy…

Meh. No big deal. They show them for what, 10 seconds, tops? I'm not gonna get in a twist over it.

Like when they show Taylor Swift at football games. Someone timed it once, and in the span of three hours, they showed her for a total of 24 seconds.

Like you, I've no interest in knowing what celebrities are doing at any given moment. They're people, like everyone else.

I've discovered Telemundo is broadcasting the Olympics.
I don't understand Spanish so nothing they say bothers me.

They often get really excited sometimes but I got no idea what that's about.
