When the skies of November turn gloomy

For my location today it is in the mid-70's (f) with calm winds and clear skies. Was same yesterday and expected to be the same tomorrow. But, by 11-15, Wednesday, we are expecting rain for three days and up to 6 inches of rain. Our first rain of the 'season'. Our rainy season is usually October to March with about 13 inches of rain for the season. But, most days of our rainy season are clear and can be quite warm.

I love that song... and the imagery in it has brought tears to me many times since 1975.
The parts that get me every time are "Fellas, it's been to know ya" and
"all that remains is the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters"
and "the church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald"

RIP Fellas.

Gordon Lightfoot nailed it with this song. Very powerful.
The song has one of the most haunting lines I’ve ever encountered and never fails to give me a shiver. “Does anyone know where the love of God goes; when the waves turn the minutes to hours”. On land or water, anyone who has felt helpless in a situation of impending and seemingly overpowering doom, understands. Mother Nature really doesn't care about me or you.

Until the song was released (was it '76?) there wasn't much knowledge about it, I think.
I'd graduated high school in June of '75 and although I was very much into journalism/news on a daily basis, I don't remember hearing about the tragedy until the song.

It was a very startling event around the Great Lakes and especially Michigan and is always a day remembered. A friend of mine from Michigan has said, "When the Fitz went down, The Yoops reaction was akin to the loss of the Challenger Space Shuttle." Don't know if that's a good analogy but the loss was universally heart felt.
