When Was the Last Time You bought a Newspaper?

Still love 50's & 60's music!
I bought one since 2002. That's when I got my first computer. When I was living in New York City, buying a copy of the New York Daily News was a daily occurrence. Sometimes I would buy the New York Post for sports only, never the news. The Daily News was easier to read on a subway train than the New York Times. I always bought the Sunday edition of the New York Daily News. The Sunday edition of the New York Times, weighed more than a couple of copies of the New York City phone book.

I have read newspapers over the years working in nursing homes. There were always copies of newspapers in the nursing homes where I worked. But I didn't have to pay for them.

I read a newspaper that I found in the laundry room, but buying one? Not since living in Massachusetts, I don't think, and that was 20 years ago. Online I read NY Post & sometimes Daily News. No subscription. Not as satisfying. The NYPost has more readable online presence & it's free.

My son brings me a newspaper every Saturday. I don't read the news, I only want it for the pages of crosswords/word games and the TV Guide.

I can't remember the last time I bought one. Years ago. Probably up to the middle 90's I used to subscribe to our local one. And would buy a NYT on Sunday every now and then. I read past issues of our local paper here as people give them to me for my bunny's litter. I don't actually read them, mainly just glance to see if there is anything I am interested in.

Cn't remember the last time I bought a newspaper per se... here in London.. we get free evening papers ( the Standard).. and daily papers , The Metro...wherever we go...

I use to buy the Telegraph only on Saturdays because there was so much news in it you could be reading it for a couple of hours.. and the Crossword was huge and cryptic.. but I haven't bought it for a long time, I read it online now..

I've bought The Stage newspaper occasionally which is for the TV and film industry...

I love reading the newspaper but will not spend the money. Here is how you can read the newspaper for free, all you need is a library card. What is Newsbank and How Can it Save you Money? – The Tech Minimalist (wordpress.com)

When Was the Last Time You bought a Newspaper?

Been over a decade...maybe two
Used to take the daily, just for the NYT crossword and sports

That crossword would be so very easy on Monday, then progress in obscure difficulty thru the week
By Saturday it might as well been in hieroglyphics

But...Sunday
My lady and I would settle into a pot of coffee, jump back in bed, and pour over that tome of news and ads

We miss that

At least 20 years ago, when the local paper was bought out by a large company and reduced the page count. The content was reduced to very little local news and mostly national news.

My father always brought home two newspapers every day; I would leaf through them, and always follow the comics! The Star Ledger ruled in New Jersey. When working, I would pick up The Washington Post daily. I subscribed to a local paper for a while, but discontinued due to rising prices and lack of reliable home delivery. I still pick up a Sunday paper, but at $4 an issue, it’s a poor value… 😩

I always loved reading the newspaper but our local paper got to be rediculaslly biased politically and then started delivering three days a week but charging more money. So I cancelled my subscription five or six years ago and haven't bought a paper since.

I miss it though, I liked the physical newspaper better than anything online.

The last time I read a newspaper was in 2018. Until that time I had home delivery of the local paper. Then I decided to take a ride in an ambulance and visit several hospitals for the next 3 months. When I came back home, I found about 100 rolled up newspapers on the ground. The delivery guy just kept tossing them in a pile, next to the newspaper box. Come on, all those newspapers piled up meant nobody was home. Might as well put up a neon "Come rob me" sign. I cancelled my subscription.
BTW, you can't beat newspaper for cleaning windows.

I subscribe to our local newspaper. It does an excellent job of covering our state and local news. National news is easily available through other outlets.
The paper publishes 5 days a week.

We subscribe to our local weekly newspaper.....local news and ads. It's a handy way to keep up with the local happenings, which never make the TV news. It only costs about $20/year.

I subscribed to weekend only home delivery a few months ago. I missed sitting and reading the news, which is much more complete in a paper than what you see on TV. Adds are important too if I ever need this or that.

No paid subscriptions for me for about 5 years now. But, I read five different online news websites every single day, and listen to the evening news on TV.
I do miss an actual paper at my door every morning so I can do the crossword puzzle. Now, I do one online daily but it's not the same.
