When was the last time you saw someone knitting?

When I was a kid, grandmothers always had this big ball of yarn, with two ginormous knitting needles sticking out. They were always making something. Especially when watching TV. I haven't seen that in decades. It seems like a lost art. When was the last time you saw someone knitting?

Funny, Janet just bought knitting supplies four days ago. She used to knit. She's getting ready to retire, this year, and knows she needs to get into some hobbies, old and new.

She sat on the couch and did a bit of knitting. I liked watching her. She seems to still know what she's doing.

My sister knits, actually, picking up the practice as a form of therapy to help keep her arthritic fingers limber. She's become quite adept at it, and can keep up an unrelated conversation as her fingers nimbly work on laying down another row...

Does yourself count? If so, just a short while ago. I made myself a knitted tunic. If others, then it's been a while since I saw someone else knitting. Actually hand-made crafts are making a comeback so people are knitting and sewing more these days.

I can knit a little. I find it hard to correct a mistake. I crochet better than I knit. Going through my closet I found a couple of new white pillow cases and I intend to embroider the edges of them. It is so easy to learn a new stitch online than from a book. My Grandma always embroidered and showed me the basic stitches.I still have some of her work.

To answer the question, I haven't seen anyone knitting in a long while but they must be out there. Our library raffles off beautiful knitted items every few months.

My mom and aunt came from the WWII era where if you weren't busy doing something else, you were knitting (or tatting--never did get that one!--crocheting, embroidering, etc etc). My aunt was the fastest knitter I've ever seen *and* she could do it while carrying on a conversation and not look at the needles!

I enjoy both knitting and crochet, and it is something that I usually do during the long , cold winter months, when I am not outside as often like I am in the summer months.
I usually just make small projects, and one of my favorite things to make is socks. I learned many years ago from my mother-in-law, when I was young and first married.
As far as seeing someone else knitting, that hasn’t happened for a long time, but I know that there are a lot of people who do it still.
