When you create a thread asking a question ....,

... do you expect opposing answers?

And if you do have an opposing answer is it ok to add it to a thread or is that considered rude?
Should people who have an opposing viewpoint bypass the thread altogether?

I understand the ‘no politics’ policy but does that mean we can’t have opposing views?

Keesha, (not sure where you're going with this or what prompted it)...but surely you've been here long enough to know that people don't always agree and yes, you can have opposing views.

It’s a clean cut question.

So if someone asked how many showers you have a day it’s surely not considered rude to enter the thread to say you don’t have showers, you have baths.

I’m genuinely inquiring.

Yes I would think so also Gumbud.
If everyone agreed and had the same viewpoints what would be the point of even having a discussion in the first place?
Perhaps I’m wondering if there’s a definite line or not

No.

And if someone considers it rude it's their problem.

A smart thing for the bath taker would be to see that the thread is about showers and MOVE ON.

Huh? When I create a thread, asking a question that leaves room for discussion, I expect answers that run the gamut from positive to negative. Why the heck would I expect everyone to weigh in with the same answer? Is this the Sheeple Forum or the Senior Forum?

Yup

I’d expect…hope for…views
Where it goes from there, I’d hope would at least be interesting

Views can be different

One more little tidbit on this;

Opposing ‘arguments’ or statements, at our ages, don’t mean much at all.

None of us is gonna slap our head and go, ‘well, I sure didn’t consider that! I’ll just change my ways from here on out’

No, we’re deeply mired now

We are what we are, and whatever we think is what we think

Getting a point across is about as pointless as a rubber ball

But....being funny, now THAT's entertainment

I'm new here and one reason why I switched forum sites is because some people were deliberately unpleasant on the other sites. They don't like people to disagree with their views. I hope those people haven't followed me onto this site. By the way, I don't take showers either, I prefer to wallow in a bath.

I wish I could still wallow, but my bad knees make it pretty much out of the question. I'd hate to have to call the fire department to come get me out of the tub.

You need one of those step-in baths, butterfly. There are some dishy firemen around but, getting stuck in a bath wearing nothing but a shower-cap is not the most romantic situation to find yourself in!

We all have opinions. Sometimes people say things that we don't agree with, and, if I've learned nothing else in this long life, then like my Grannie used to say, "If you can't say something nice, then say nowt." It works for me.

I THINK this was said in a joking way, but sometimes I'm dense.

Regardless, I'm gonna add here that as this is a discussion forum, adding that one doesn't take showers but substitutes baths instead would be a valid point in a discussion about showers. It adds to the discussion, opens it up to further points of view.

If one simply wants boolean responses, create a poll. Then the only possible result is yes/no.
