When you quit smoking, what was the cost of cigarettes?

My dad smoked Pall Malls till he got throat cancer, when he quit cigarettes were 25 cents a pack in 1968.
I smoked on and off till I quit about 15-20 years ago, at that time a pack cost $5.35.
I found out cigarettes, in PA, cost $12.14- $121.40/carton.
(You can get some pretty good weed for that.)

When at the Navy PX cigarettes went from 80 cents a carton to $1.20 That $1.20 could buy 15 bottles of Gerbers junior baby food.

75Ā¢ a pack. Actually I never really started. I just tried them a few times. Disgusting filthy smelly habit.

They were about $80 a carton, I bought a carton every week. I have no idea what they may cost now. I like the fact that most pharmacies and grocery stores no longer carry or display them. Makes it easy not to even think about it.

I quit 2 1/2 years ago.

$100 per carton

I think one pack of smokes is around $18.00 here in Canada at your local Gas Station.

I had a good connection before I quit, though. I'd get 200 Native cigarettes for $20.00.

Wow. $18.00 a pack. That is A LOT.

When I quit in 2009, I was smoking American Spirit cigarettes which, I believe, were $45 a carton (so, $4.50 a pack). They didn't have all the chemicals that "regular" cigarettes contained, but unfortunately, the tobacco was still addictive.

I quit because ... my husband asked me to.

Actually, I stand corrected...I just googled this...

How much is a pack of 25 cigarettes in Canada 2023?

A pack of 25 typically costs between $11 and $16, depending on the brand and province.

I used to smoke Mayfair Blue King-size. A carton of 100 (5 packs of 20) was about £20 and I got 2 cartons plus two packs of Mayfair Menthol. So roughly about £50 a month.

I was never a hard smoker, it was very light, more of habit to calm my nerves. I've quit over a decade now. I prefer vaping using SMOK equipment.

With the vaping liquids, £21 last 2 months so roughly savings are yearly about £470+

I never started in the first place however when I was young I smoked

My husband used to smoke cigarettes. He quit years ago but they WERE expensive. He’d buy Indian cigarettes from the guys he worked with. I never asked him to quit but glad he did. He vaped for about 3 years after he quit smoking but finally quit that.

I used to smoke Winston's but it usually took me 2-3 days to finish a pack
The cost back in 1990 was $1,quit 'cold turkey'
To this day, I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke

Well, that is true but now I have all that saved for major puchases needed in the future. Okay, don't laugh but I drive a 2008 car but it only has 40K miles and 20K of those were put on the car when I got it.

I do need at some point to get a new glass cooktop for the kitchen. I had the hot water heater replaced earlier this year and it was not a cheap job. Appliances and installation have gone thru the roof.

I smoked for a few years when I was much younger. I think a pack of cigarettes back then was about 75 cents.

I bet your glad you don't smoke now..otherwise you wouldn't be able to afford the appliance repairs..

Well, before I quit, I realized that my cigarette money could buy me at least one pair of Jimmy Choo shoes a year. After I quit, I realized I didn't want Jimmy Choo shoes. LOL

When I was in the Navy in the 1950s, they were $1 a carton in the ships store.

When I quit in 1961 I was a civilian, don't remember what they cost. I had a collapsed lung, I will never forget the pain.
