Where was security for Keir Starmer?

Were they asleep? He could have been stabbed. Really the security of all public politicians speakers, certainly of his level, needs to be tightened.
Look what happened to Salman Rushdie. It is very dangerous to be a public figure vulnerable on stage.

Could those of us in "the rest of the world" have a little background on your post, Rose? Can't answer where his security was if we haven't a clue what happened or even who he is.

If I may. He is the leader of the Labour party in the UK. At his party conference speech, someone ran on stage and threw glitter on him.

I echo the OP, where was security. It wasn't so long ago we had an MP stabbed to death, so you'd of thought this couldn't happen.

Thank you, @VaughanJB ... the name sounded familiar but I couldn't place it, and haven't heard of the glitter incident. Uh... glitter... was there significance in choosing that instead of something harmful? I mean was there a statement they were trying to make instead of actually harming him?

Honestly, I caught the headline, skimmed what happened, and tuned out. I would remind the protestor that glitter is a micro-plastic, and the world is currently trying to remove that from the environment. So I don't know if the person gives a damn about the environment or not, but if they do, its an epic fail. Still, as protests go, throwing glitter seems extraordinarily benign.

Sorry. Labour party leader making a speech and a man was able to run right up to him. It simply will not do.

If you watch Questions For The Prime Minister on C-SPAN on Sunday nights, you would know who Keir Starmer is, as well as Rishi Sunak.
