My mother always used to refer to chicken breast as "white meat" . I've just used the term 'chicken breast' in another post and this reminded me of a story about Sir Winston Churchill.
At a dinner party one evening when chicken was being served, be was asked which bit of meat he preferred and he answered "the breast". His hostess was a bit shocked and said that they referred to it as "white meat".
Next day, Churchill wrote a letter of thanks to the hostess along with a small corsage and the instruction, "Please wear this close to your white meat".
