Who knew that going to a car dealership could be a pleasant experience?

I'll try to keep it short. We leased a '20 Mazda CX-30 back in March 2020 so our lease was ending. We loved everything about the car, and the end-of-lease residual value was much lower than what a similar model would cost in today's used car market, so it made sense to buy it. I contacted Mazda Financial Services to prepare to buy the car. We hated the dealership we leased from and were told we could go to any Mazda dealership to buy the car.

I was dreading going to a car dealership, but we went to the dealership where we have gotten the car serviced. They have always treated us well. We were set in stone that we would buy this car. The salesman gave us the figures to finance, even including a 3-year warranty. Then, the sales manager told us they had very few used cars on their lot (which is true in today's environment) and they would give us a nice credit to take our '20 model. They had us drive a new CX-5 (too big for us) and a new CX-30. The deal was so good that we ended up leasing a '23 CX-30 with many more options (turbo, AWD, etc.) than our '20 at basically the same payments with no money down.

I'm sure the dealership will make a nice profit on the car we turned in, but we felt like we got a good deal as well. They were nice, accommodating and we didn't feel pushed into making a decision. I'm sure the shortage of used cars these days and the fact that they have increased in value provided a great opportunity. For once, I didn't feel like I had an adversarial relationship with the dealer. It was raining, so they are detailing the car on Saturday.

I'm glad you're happy with the deal. Too rare anyone comes out of a dealership not wanting a shower.

The first time that I saw the new Mazda MX-5 I was impressed, in fact the only thing that I could fault was the badge. It should have been: MG.
Yes, it is quite impressive. I had an '06 in the previous style and loved driving it!

This is an exact match for our new car... black wheels and all. It is a hoot!

I'm happy to hear you were pleased with the experience and your car.

When I bought my car, which is getting old but with low mileage, it was a good experience also. I didn't feel like I was surrounded by sharks. I had at the other dealership I went to which is why I didn't buy there.

Glad it worked out for you, and hope you enjoy your new Mazda! Never owned one, but remember my aunt buying one with the rotary engine, that was a long time ago.

I can't say I have ever enjoyed a dealership experience, but I have gotten better at keeping it to a minimum of pain. I think we need to do away with the requirements to sell new cars through dealers.

I loved my Mazda. This goes way back. I think I bought it in the late 1980s, used. A compact sedan, but it was sporty looking, and the paint job (silver) seemed indestructible. It could take twisting mountain roads, gave me a smooth, quiet ride on the freeway, very maneuverable and got great mileage.

I had it for over 4 years, the 2nd longest ownership in my history of car-ownership. A '05 Malibu is in 1st place. I had that one for 6.5 years.

My car dealership is nice, too. Their service waiting area is nicer than most people’s homes, complete with comfy furniture and a big screen TV. Where they get out the rubber hoses to beat you with is when trying to get you to take an “extended warrantee” on your purchase…🙀

The only package I've ever purchases was a Road Hazard package on my '17 A4. They replaced flats and refinished wheels that had curb rash. We have rough roads, narrow streets and high curbs here in Dallas so it paid for itself many times over.
