Who remembers Mr. Wizard?

His actual name was Don Herbert. He had a TV show in the 1950s & 60s (which was also rebooted in the 1980s) that demonstrated scientific topics geared for young people. he lived to be 89 passing in June 2007. As a project in 7th grade, students had to write letters to celebrities. As one of my subjects, I chose Mr. Herbert. I received a nice letter and photo from him. I think he had some influence on me choosing a career that was scientifically orientated.

I got a Mr. Wizard Science Secrets Set for Christmas once. You could do many interesting things with it. I barely scratched the surface. It came with a hard back book to explain what you could do, and also explained a lot of other things as well. I spent more time with the book than I did with the set.
