Who Takes Care Of The Caretaker When The Caretaker Becomes Incapacitated?

This is a unfortunate problem that has occurred several times within my circle of aquaintencies.

We can't even get our medications at the moment. Now you remind me things can go far worse. My aunt might be looking at this within the decade. Her husband is almost fully paralyzed and is getting sent home. Rehab will only keep you if there is a probability of recovery of some kind. My aunt is probably close to 80 and has kept thing going up to now. She's elected to stay in their house. But the yard work, caring for the house and my uncle on her own. They have one son several states away. I can't imagine what you do if you can't afford help to come in or kids to take you in.

Fur, we have government subsidized housing available here for seniors who are incapacitated and need help with their care. Once people become infirm, they do have to make a change, sell their house probably. The work involved in keeping up a house and property is really too much for the aged, unless they are very fit. Is there something like that where you live?
