The first ones I've seen this season...under $15 and I have the perfect pot. Really hearty too, I had one that lived potted for several years and even flowered in winter. The flower smell is intoxicating. I never had luck with roses but gardenia is my second favorite scent.

My wife's favorite flower. Bought her corsages over the years but was never successful at keeping a plant. You must be very good. Dry heat is instant death.

The secret especially in Jersey weather is to bring them inside to a sunny window from maybe late September to early April. Freezing or dry heat wipe out a bunch of plants.

Unfortunately. I have the worst house for indoor plants. Only light is a big picture window with an unusable sill ehind the sofa that only gets the Sun early in the morning and two small kitchen windows on the opposite side of the house that get it in the late afternoon. The best we could ever do were Boston ferns and Philodendron. We did buy those small potted Daffs and Hyacinths though. Brought in a lot of cut things from the outside. Roses, Lilacs, Iris, etc. I had to let all of that go. Enjoy your Gardenias. I envy you.
