Who's dying of this Virus mainly?

I think it's everyone that thinks it just the flu and Young people thinking it no big deal like in my city of 30,000 and having large parties and having car meets in store parking lots like nothing wrong and some restaurants lobby's still open here. It will take the army or police to force people to stay home. And another thing the Health department needs to stay open 24 hour here instead of closing on the weekends.

I think you're right, it's going to take the army or serious police control, because there's a core element of people who seem to think that the rules about only going out for essentials, and medical appointments , exercise just once a day ( that doesn't mean sunbathing in parks and beaches)... not hanging around in a crowd..etc , and staying home ...do not apply to them.

I hate the idea of it , but I'm beginning to think if we don't start introducing, permits for people to go out ...as they have where my daughter lives in Spain...and only one person at a time allowed to be in a car unless it's your child.. ( and you cannot take more than one child)... and all shopping to be done at your nearest stores, so no travelling 200 miles to a coastal town or a national park area , and then saying you've just come to do some shopping ( which is happening here )

Otherwise if these restrictions are not put into place we're never going to be rid of this... ( today we were told we'll be in lock-down almost certainly until June)... my daughters' business is being ruined, it;s heartbreaking, but unless everyone obeys the rules, no-one will have a job at the end of it at all...

Too many people think they are bullet proof and are contributing to the spread of this VIRUS!!

The bad thing about this virus, is that a person can be carrying it, and spreading it for days/weeks before they become ill. Such a person can unwittingly expose dozens of others to the virus, without knowing it.

The Flu is much "kinder", in that when a person wakes up in the middle of the night, on day one, and has to rush to the toilet to pray to the ceramics, they Know they are sick.

HollyDolly, Apparently the same thing is going on here. I personally only go out to pick up meds, to grab needed items at the grocery, or to walk the neighborhood keeping way more than 6 ft apart from the very few people who are out. However, one of my friends posted this today on FB. It makes me heartsick that people just won't take this seriously as, like you, I have children who need their jobs, and the longer we delay taking appropriate action, the more likely no one will have jobs.

"What part of this pandemic do people not understand? You people are putting everyone at risk by not doing what you've been asked to do. I'm not so sure what it is that is so enticing about this disease but you invite it into your life which is exactly what you people are doing. I'll be the first to tell you that cabin fever is real!! But for the sake of humanity people!!! Is it a goal to infect yourselves and your children?? Rant Over!"

CHICAGO —
An Illinois infant with COVID-19 has died, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Saturday. The cause of death is unknown, and an investigation is underway.
A state employee also was among 13 new deaths reported Saturday as Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike urged people to do all they could to prevent the spread of the virus.
“If you haven’t been paying attention, maybe this is your wake-up call,” Ezike said.
The risk of death and severe illness from COVID-19 is greater for older adults and people with other health problems. In most cases, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, which can include fever and cough but also milder cases of pneumonia, sometimes requiring hospitalization.

1. The flu is respiratory; not gastro-intestinal. When someone has to rush to the toilet, it's usually food poisoning - which many people mistakenly call flu - or "Stomach Flu."
2. The flu overwhelms the body quickly - you can go from feeling fine to feeling horrible in 15-30 minutes. And you would be contagious during that time - before your immune system has a chance to mount a defense with fever.
