I live in South Carolina with my trophy wife of 50 years who I met on a blind date in 1968. She's been a domestic goddess for the past 25 years but I still plug away restoring antique boats. (NautilusRestorations.com) It's nice to "meet" everyone and hopefully, I can make some positive contributions.

Ha!!
have you decided to stay now , Nautilus , after having given us a little trial?..well we're happy to have you, ... Sometimes I wish we could hear each other speak on these forums, I've known a couple of people from SC and NC and I just love that accent... :D

If you fill in your profile a little you're location will appear under your avatar !!

Everyone here seems to be so sane that I thought a little psychosis might break the monotony. I'm a South Carolina transplant...originally from the Philadelphia area so my accent is more like Rocky. (water=wooder) The "lizard" is a Sleestak from the children's show, "Land of the Lost."

Welcome—-I live in PA and get into Philly now and then. I am very careful where I go in that city. I just never felt safe. I have also been a Phillies fan forever.

I really like South Carolina. If I were to move out of state, SC would by my second choice. Tennessee would be my first choice.

You don't feel safe in The City of Brotherly Love? Neither did we. We live in the mountains of SC...way up in the point of the state, the "upcountry," about as far from Charleston as you can get.

People that aren’t familiar with Philly do not understand it’s boundaries. As you know, Philly is divided up into sections. I tried to avoid north Philly, but northeast Philly or Frankford was OK. I don’t know why, but that’s the way it is. South Philly around the stadium was also a fairly safe area on game days. The place is crawling with cops and that’s probably why.

At one time, gangs controlled the neighborhoods. I knew some kids from Philly way back in the early’60’s. They would tell me about the various gang wars. I used to wonder if all cities had this problem.

We love our cottage in So. Carolina....We never ever thought we would be able to have 2 homes....
When we went on a vacation to So. Carolina, we decided to go ahead....We first bought a Condo...
Then Hubby had Cancer 2 years later....We sold the Condo in SC...Never thinking we would go back...

One day after Hubby was feeling better and going to his Doctor! The Doctor told him, you can go
wherever you want, as long as you keep your medicines and coming back every 3 months to her
office....So, we decided to get a cottage in So. Carolina....We took a flight and bought the cottage
in one day.....(We know, Cancer can act up anytime, so we live not in fare we act like we are lucky
we are in a day that Cancer can stay dormant)….But you never know....So we live life, not crying,
we live life, cause we could!!!!! Love All!!!! Thank You, My Friend, who told me about this Forum...

My wife had breast cancer, HER2. She went through hell with chemo and radiation but so far, it looks as though she's beaten it but like you say, it can return. We live life wide open as best as our finances will allow. The clock is ticking and time waits for no man...or woman.

I was born in Crozer hospital, just outside the city...couldn't help that but I always had the desire to leave the area. Fortunately, what I do for a living has no geographical boundaries. As soon as we were in a financial position to leave, we did.
"We gotta get out of this place
If it's the last thing we ever do
We gotta get out of this place
'Cause girl, there's a better life for me and you."

Yeah, we heard that song a lot in Vietnam. That song has a lot of memories tied to it.

Are those wooden boats? I was a fan of wooden boats and I would buy the magazine on the newstands and make models of the older wooden boats. I believe after making the models I would be able to make a full size rowing boat.
