Why are people leaving California?

We really, really and I mean really need to do something. I don't know what though...
Oh there is an obvious solution, however Wall street financial, real estate corporations, and their media and politicians will fight kicking and screaming because it would greatly affect their profits and their power control. We never had this problem in the US until this was all set up during the Reagan era. If immigration both legal and illegal is greatly reduced it won't be putting constant high pressure on the most stressed levels of housing markets. Stop allowing wealthy non-citizen foreigners and real estate corporations and REITs, from buying up all these properties they then have unfair leverage to jack up prices on. The whole "we need to build more housing because their isn't enough" is a monstrous lie to deflect away from the real issues. There would be plenty of housing available if that were removed it from the hands of real estate corporations and REITs. By constantly buying up most of the available housing, of course it will continue to be scarce as well as keep prices high. Americans, too dense to understand the simple logic of what is occurring, have become manipulated fools.

Or maybe it is because Prince Harry is there and they
are on the Queens side.

Mike.

If it weren't for the British tabloid Daily Mail trying to get any news they can about his life here, no one would even know he lives here.
The US just isn't that mesmerized with him and his life like Britain is.

Only the gossipy, entertainment sites like Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight like shock and awe stories.
Their news is reported in the style of the Daily Mail.

I'm born & raised and feel very fortunate where I'm living these days. I guess it's all up to what you're comfortable with or looking for. Right now we're putting up with the hot summer heat and hoping we won't have any big fires that brings in the smoke for days. But that's just par for the course around here.

In the immortal words of Roseanne Roseeannadanna(sp?) " It's always something! "
I think that's probably true no matter where you live.. 🏡

This is exactly what I keep saying to those across the pond! When Mr. and Mrs. Harry do an event for charity, of course they should be recognized, but for the most part, they aren't on the public's radar screen to watch and jump to criticize. No big deal.

It would be like us, in this country, hanging unto every word in that rag the National Enquirer ...😲

... do they even put those at the grocery check-out counters anymore ??..

Thank you for your post! This is my understanding of the situation but you clearly stated it and understand it better than I do. I have heard this discussed on KGO Newstalk but what is done. Nothing. I don't know how to change it and people are suffering. Just like in my area with all the mobile parks that burned. Not one new park going up. Just stick built houses to buy and apartments everywhere on small lots of land that were vacant since I lived here (25 years) now are having apartments built on them. No small affordable houses, condos or a mobile park.

And every jerk voted into office from the local mayors to Washington DC could care less. I'm convinced of it.

I don't know what kind of situation you live in but I'm on the edge of a town with rolling hills not far away going into the mountains. I'm even afraid here, if the circumstances were unfavorable, this area could burn. I freak every time I hear a one of the fire planes go over my apartment complex. I know their sound and if a fire is south, they go right over.

Sad to say that unbridled capitalism is an economic, environmental and social experiment that's proving to be disastrous for large swaths of the country's and planet's population.
You are absolutely right! But what are they going to do when our planet is a wreck. Their money won't do them any good.

Perhaps folks moved there listening to those old Beach Boys songs about surfing, California Girls and that "little ole' lady from Pasadena." When they moved there what they found was smog, earthquakes, pollution, over population, unfriendly people, high prices and long drives to work. Oh, did I mention all those forest fires? Now, the water table is drying up. In addition, there are all those homeless people. Not a place I would love to live. Can't blame folks for "cashing in their chips" and finding paradise some place else. If you ask me, it's a nice place to visit but I sure wouldn't want to live there.

Back in the 30s~40s there was a huge influx of people migrating into California from the poor, rundown states. Now, they are leaving California and returning to those types of places. Good-bye! (y) 🥳😘
That's funny because I would take southern California any day over living in states like North or South Dakota. Certain other states too but I don't want to offend current residents on SF.

I have lived in California since 1969. I can never leave this place.
Here is the proof:

from the lyrics "Hotel California"

On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year)
You can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany-twisted
She got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
She calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
Please bring me my wine
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here"
"Since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
And she said, 'We are all just prisoners here"
"Of our own device"
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man
"We are programmed to receive"
"You can check-out any time you like"
"But you can never leave!"

People are free to do whatever they want. They can move in or move out of California. Its none of my business really. And last time I checked, my faucets still work. I'm currently 80.5 years old. I'm quite sure my faucets will be still working after I am no longer in need of them.
