Why can't the media report accurately

We don't have as far to go, as we've already been
I read the story about the shooting at the Corpus Christie Navel Air Station and all it said was a security guard suffered minor injuries, and the terrorist is dead. Sound's like it wasn't all that bad. However... tell me how being shot point blank in the chest wasn't an important part of the story.

Thursday morning, 05/21/20, a Syrian-American terrorist armed with an AR-15 shotgun, and pistol, planned to shoot the gate guard, enter the Navy base in Corpus Christi Texas and kill as many on base as possible. A young female Sailor on duty checking IDs was shot square in the chest by the terrorist. 😲 Her ceramic armor stopped the bullet, but the force knocked her to the ground. She was able to activate the final denial barrier before the terrorist could pass through. She then unloaded her side arm into the vehicle killing the terrorist and saving unknown lives.
Good job Sailor. (y)(y)

Was the article you were citing a different article than the one in your post? That one does mention that the terrorist shot her, but her vest saved her. That usually does result in a minor injury. Some companies that manufacture ballistic vests & glass actually test them on themselves:

The picture I posted and the part about her ceramic vest was an article I found later. Almost all the news feeds I had seen downplayed the whole episode and made it seem like the guard just had a minor injury. Like leaving the impression that they fell and skinned a knuckle or something. I don't know what others think, but being shot at point blank range in the chest doesn't seem all that minor to me. The fact that she was able to recover quickly enough to stop the bad guy without delay really should have been the story. Imagine if the terrorist's shot had been higher, like above the vest. I shudder at the thought. The word Hero is bandied about a lot, but in my mind, this is exactly what a hero is.
