Something I was considering when I asked my son to join me in seeing "Deepwater Horizon" tomorrow. What is it that draws some of us to reading or viewing such somber fare? I mean you know there will be explosions, fires, high tension and death. In any case it won't end well and yet it's still fascinating.
I think it can be cathartic. After seeing such a horror show you're more than happy to be safe in a movie theater seat. I just reread The Perfect Storm a few months ago and the same thing...it's sad and you do know the ending. But it's still one of those books you can't put down.
