Why does it feel so good to watch videos of people behaving badly? This emotion may be to blame.

I don't think it necessarily feels good to look at videos of people behaving badly, but rather that once you look, you can't look away. It's like looking at a mummy, repulsive yet oddly fascinating at the same time. You can't help but wonder when the bottom of human behavior will be reached as the unacceptable becomes more mainstreamed, and people erupt to air those dark parts of themselves that represent the basis of the problems...

Bad behaviour and violence may prove to be the primary "side effect" of this pandemic. The longer this virus lingers, and more people become stressed out with worry, and having to alter their routines, the more likely they will be to "erupt". Millions of jobs have been lost, and there is a good possibility that further shutdowns may loom in the near future....putting even more people on the edge. At the bare minimum, we can probably expect mental illness numbers to increase substantially.

once you look, you can't look away. To a certain extent, but after a few, one gets angry and disgusted.

Who wants to watch good people doing nice things? People go to car races to watch crashes. They don't want anyone to get hurt but the crashes are what draws audiences. You tube is full of nasty things people do to each other. No one goes to boxing matches to watch a boxing match. They go to watch a man get his bell rung. People love brawls at baseball games too. Like JaniceM's post about Jerry Springer, nuff said.

Only the people who enjoy seeing violence done to others enjoy this

I do not like watching videos of people behaving badly or acting stupid. The latter is why I don't watch those silly reality shows that show people at their worst, including the legal shows. I had to disconnect from my favorite news program once the protesting turned ugly. I just couldn't deal with all of that for more reasons than one.
