Why Don’t Restaurants Replace High tops?

So often we go to a restaurant and they ask if we’d be ok with a high top. Absolutely not. First just take a look at our age and secondly my height. I’d need a ladder to get up on the chair.

Once upon a time these tables were trendy. That time is long gone and they’d do themselves a big favour by replacing them. We were near the entrance the other night and no one was accepting them. If that’s all they had left, I’d leave.

Do any of you seniors sit at the high top tables?

I went to a happy hour the other day because they had a buck-a-shuck deal on oysters. When we got there, the only choice for “happy hour” seating was at the bar or at a high top. While high tops aren't my favorite seating, I was only there for the time it took to down a cocktail and two dozen oysters, so we sat at the high top. Yeah, I had to climb up, lol. 🥴

A mission for Gordon Ramsey. Shake them up monstrously.

You mean these eateries do not provide a Footman in full livery to assist customers to scale the lofty heights ?! They are no more than philistine greasy spoons baaaa!:D

I haven't been in a place that had high tables in over 20 years, pretty much had forgotten about them. I think I still could handle it though. At the dr's office they have two chairs in the waiting room that would qualify for use with high tables, I'm always happy if I can score one of those -- and I've got short little legs.

I LOVE hightops and choose them when there's an option. My kitchen table is a 4 stool high top and the other kitchen seating is a high top counter with stools that have full arms and backs.

At my parties, the high top table and bar stool seating are never vacant for more than a minute or two - they're always snapped up quickly. It's not only because they're in the kitchen where most of the action is - before remodeling we had a standard height kitchen table and almost nobody sat at it during parties.

I was 5'4" but am probably a couple of inches shorter now, and still have no difficulty getting on or off higher stools.

I don't know what you are talking about. I've never seen them or given a choice 😕
Hi Tops.jpeg ???????? Don't listen to me my last pair were black Keds canvas high tops. Pretty sure Eisenhower was still president. :D

What is being refered to is a taller table 36" possibly higher about 24- 36" in diameter with taller chairs.
