Why hasn't the president

Why hasn’t President Barack Obama ordered American flags to fly at half-staff in the wake of the Chattanooga shooting that claimed the lives of five servicemen?

Who knows? Maybe he doesn't want to offend the jihadists who have vowed to kill every non-Muslim in the country? Maybe he doesn't care to show respect to the men and women who defend this country with their lives. Maybe he's just to arrogant to admit that his policies have failed and they can't protect us either internationally or domestically anymore. But hey rejoice, Cuba's flag is flying proudly today in our nations capital.

This part sounds like "The Donald".

He was 21 years old and handsome with a full head of hair. He avoided the Vietnam War draft on his way to earning an Ivy League degree. He was fond of fancy dinners, beautiful women and outrageous clubs. Most important, he had a job in his father’s real estate company and a brain bursting with money-making ideas that would make him a billionaire.
“When I graduated from college, I had a net worth of perhaps $200,000,” he said in his 1987 autobiography “Trump: The Art of the Deal,” written with Tony Schwartz. (That’s about $1.4 million in 2015 dollars.) “I had my eye on Manhattan.”
More than 8,000 miles away, John McCain sat in a tiny, squalid North Vietnamese prison cell. The Navy pilot’s body was broken from a plane crash, starvation, botched operations and months of torture.

The part about "offending jihadists"....and the garbage about Obama being "too arrogant to...whatever" just sound like the standard drivel being put in the right wing koolaid.

Thank God that we have a U.S. President that has the courage and the balls to put the Cuban vestige of the Cold War behind us, finally.

I agree Thomas, as far as not lowering the flag, it seems like Fox news is scraping the bottom of the barrel for something to nitpick about, and rile up their followers.

There are so many deaths of military that are worthy of this display that perhaps the flag should just be left at half-staff...

We are at our house. We are honoring my fellow Marines with a seven day half staff flying of the flag.

And the Commander-in-Chief is going to these funerals???? I don't think so.

What CIC has attended ANY funerals for those of our military who sacrifice all while on duty for our Country? Following is a list of some of the terrorist activities that have taken the lives of American military. How many of these funerals were attended by the CIC at that time?? I have the answer.....

1983 Oct. 23, Beirut, Lebanon: Shiite suicide bombers exploded truck near U.S. military barracks at Beirut airport, killing 241 marines.
1984 Sept. 20, east Beirut, Lebanon: truck bomb exploded outside the U.S. embassy annex, killing 24, including 2 U.S. military.
1988 Dec. 21, Lockerbie, Scotland: N.Y.-bound Pan-Am Boeing 747 exploded in flight from a terrorist bomb and crashed into Scottish village, killing all 259 aboard and 11 on the ground. Passengers included 35 Syracuse University students and many U.S. military personnel.
Nov. 13, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: car bomb exploded at U.S. military headquarters, killing 5 U.S. military servicemen.
1996 June 25, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia: truck bomb exploded outside Khobar Towers military complex, killing 19 American servicemen and injuring hundreds of others. 13 Saudis and a Lebanese, all alleged members of Islamic militant group Hezbollah, were indicted on charges relating to the attack in June 2001.
2000 Oct. 12, Aden, Yemen: U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole heavily damaged when a small boat loaded with explosives blew up alongside it. 17 sailors killed.
2008 May 26, Iraq: a suicide bomber on a motorcycle kills six U.S. soldiers and wounds 18 others in Tarmiya.

July 13, Afghanistan: nine U.S.soldiers and at least 15 NATO troops die when Taliban militants boldly attack an American base in Kunar Province, which borders Pakistan. It's the most deadly against U.S. troops in three years.

Well, lets get the word out.......so all can start on their next slam, lets see......"He didn't really mean it", "He's just trying to save face.", "He waited too long.", "He was sitting down instead of standing.", "He did not look sad enough."....etc etc etc.............President Obama Orders Flags Fly at Half Mast to Honor Chattanooga Shooting VictimsBY POLLY MOSENDZ 7/21/15 AT 12:28 PMChattanooga_0719A U.S. flag flies near a sign honoring victims of the shooting attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee July 17, 2015.TAMI CHAPPELL/REUTERS FILED UNDER: U.S.President Obama ordered flags be lowered to half staff in honor of service members killed on July 16 by a gunman in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Now that they can no longer spread that bit of hatred, they'll move on to something else . . . wait for it . . .

Agree with QS. Reading or listening to their latest rants about Obama just serves to irritate me which is not good for mental health.

Just for the record, I don't hate President Obama. I have the deepest respect for him. I don't agree with him politically but I don't find that cause to hate him. His skin is a little darker than mine but I don't find that cause to hate him. I think if he and I were able to chat, we could do it without some of the rancor that I see here. I'm sure we could find many things we agree on.

I do, however, think the flag should be lowered to half staff for the loss of those servicemen in Chattanooga. I think the wives, children, mothers, fathers, loved ones will appreciate the respect it shows.

But Shirley, they were. It didn't take the President to do that. He cannot lower all flags every time we lose a member of the military. How did you feel when Bush ordered no pictures of our boys caskets being offloaded at Dover AFB? Just be fair Shirley. I like you, you know that but you just don't look past the (D).....

Like I said before, I have many friends who are Democrats. When we discuss politics, we listen to each others opinions with respect. I personally feel that it would be right and fitting to lower the flag to half staff whenever a member of our service dies in the line of duty. If it's in war time, maybe it should be lowered until the last one has died or come home.

OK. Let's say we all agree. Then it's not President Obama who didn't do the right thing in your view, it's ALL Presidents since our history began. Agreed?
