Why I Joined SF

I have a need to communicate just like everyone and since my hearing is still not back yet since the Cochlear Implant, SF can partially fill that void.

Yes, like Mrs R, I thought your new expensive implants were working now, and you were enjoying conversations over dinner with your new neighbours in your new home...

I'm sorry to hear that , how long will it be before they're doing their job?

I subscribe to a fair number of pretty good senior and retirement blogs and websites, but forums in those same categories are almost impossible to find. Highly active forums with wide varieties of topics seem scarcer than hen's teeth. I'm delighted to have stumbled onto SF!

Awwww,I thought the implants WERE working! I must have missed something. Is there still a chance they will?

Implants are not a PLUG & PLAY, I must do daily hearing exercises to teach my brain how to hear again. It's a slow process and the doc tells me my hearing will get better month by month and so far he is right, but mean while it has been a struggle.

Hang in there Lon! It will get better.
I joined SF because I enjoy the subjects discussed here and the people. I came originally for advice and found it very helpful.

Lon,I hope your hearing improves within next couple of days,I'll say nightly prayers for you.
I joined SF for a couple of reasons, alot more friendlier than at AARP site where I was a member for 5 yrs. The different topics/discussions,sometimes I learn something new. I also like the fact some of our members are from around the world,we get a different point of view Sue

Keep us posted, Lon. I and some others are still learning to use the old basic hearing aids. We can only wonder what is in the future.
