Why is an elderly crimewave gripping Japan?

Wow! Maybe they think if they've lived that long they're entitled to whatever they want! :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness, sadly it appears that prison is preferable to being cast aside as an elderly person. Since most of Japan's population is elderly, there are very few young people to take care of them. Sad that prison provides better shelter and daily meals.:(

that's exactly it Doug... as it goes on to say further into the video... that some of them think of prison now as a home, because they don't punish anymore in prisons in Japan by making them work 8 hours a day. Instead after £120 years of harsh punishments they rehabilitate, and so they have a proper home from home... ..it's all very sad...
 
This made me think of Red Skelton's character, Freddie the Freeloader. It's Christmas Eve and Freddie has been released from jail. It's cold and he's hungry and he wants to get back into jail but no matter what he does, he can't get arrested again. Every time he breaks the law, nobody will arrest him.

I agree with @seadoug......maybe that's what the elderly folk have to do to get a roof over their heads.

well it says so in the Video... as one guy said.. in prison he has people who understand him... but that's not the only reason for the crime wave among the elderly of course.... ...
