I have to verify I am human on some web sites that haven't required this before.
Why is it a lot of Web sites are now asking for verification?

There are probably more bot attacks, so they are making an effort to curb the encroachment.
I used to watch all my shows (all three of them) on the internet the following day and now they won't let me do it. I can't watch Survivor on CBS or Dateline on NBC. I link to my cable company, but it's no longer enough. I'm sure they would like to hold my first born as assurance that they aren't losing a nickel to some scammer, but why are the good customers the ones being punished?

It is annoying but at least we don't have as many pictures puzzles to verify users. Find the cars in the photos

I just spent a whole day with messaged security codes and that kind of stuff. I entered the same exact 6 digit security code they just sent me, and I got "ERROR".

Expect more of that in the future, identity authentication is getting more difficult online, I kind of expect at some point having to provide a thumbprint to authenticate, but even that can be spoofed.

I had the self same thing yesterday. I put the code number in that was sent to me by text... then I put my p/w in ( Banking )... and it said , wrong code.. I tried again... wrong code.. so I got it to send me another code.. ''wrong code''.. tried again..''wrong code''..
I had to end up phoning the cutomer services at the bank, 20 minutes on the phone with them and they couldn't figure out why it was doing that..

News to me. I'm on my laptop a good portion of the day doing everything from research, movies and games. Even TOR, I haven't noticed anything or had any problems.
I bought and downloaded a programme yesterday,
while I was installing it, after I put in the activation
code, the programme, said that it had sent a code
to my email, that I had to enter in order to carry on,
no email has ever arrived yet, I contacted the vendor,
who was not the owner of the site, but it was after 6
o'clock in the European landmass, so I got no reply,
no code and no use of the new programme.
