The US Government has been warning us about Russian cyber-attacks for quite some time, but with the war in Ukraine the warnings have escalated.

The FCC has listed Kaspersky as an “unacceptable nation security risk”

Kaspersky is a cybersecurity company based in Moscow.

Millions of users around the world use Kaspersky antivirus software.

Antivirus software that is questionable is especially concerning. Antivirus software must maintain an encrypted connection to the manufacturer’s servers. If the manufacturer is a potential bad actor, you do not want their software installed on your computer, Mac or mobile devices. Since there is suspicion surrounding Kaspersky, it should be uninstalled.

Uninstall Kaspersky Antivirus from PC

In the system tray right click the Kaspersky icon and choose exit.

Click the Start Button > Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.

Scroll through the list and find Kaspersky. Click the ellipsis menu and choose uninstall.

If prompted to do so remove all settings and data associated with the program.

When the uninstall process is finished click yes when prompted to restart your computer.

Uninstall Kaspersky from Mac

Open the Kaspersky app.

Click the help menu in the upper left corner.

Then select support. Click uninstall. If you get a pop-up asking if you are sure you want to remove the program, click uninstall.

When the installation is finished restart your Mac.

Remove Kaspersky Mobile App from Android

Locate the app on your home screen. Touch and hold the app and then select uninstall.

Or open Settings > Apps. Select the Kaspersky app and then choose uninstall.

Restart your Android.

Remove Kaspersky Mobile App from iPhone

Locate the app on your home screen, touch and hold the app then select Remove App > Delete App > delete.

Or open the app library. Tap and hold the Kaspersky app and then select Delete App > Delete.

Restart your iPhone.

Once you have uninstalled the program from your computer and Mac and removed the app from your Android and iPhone you will want to install another antivirus software program. Windows comes with built in antivirus software called Windows Security. You can use that or you can install another program.

Avast Antivirus has a free version and several paid plans. It is available for Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android.

Avira Antivirus also offers a free and paid version. It is available for Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android.
