Will War Break Out Between the US and China?

MAD sounds logical. But, it's not really a human response. If one side, either the US or China is losing a conventional war, nuclear weapons will be used by the losing side. Who thinks Hitler would not have used nuclear bombs, even when the Russians were planting their flag over Berlin's Reichstag Building.
MAD prevents full scale wars from starting. Cannot imagine what would happen to Russia if they dropped nukes on Ukraine, but it wouldn't be pretty.

China doesn't want war, especially a nuclear one. What they do want is Taiwan.

Do Americans want to fight a war over Taiwan?
Our president is on record as saying that we will “defend” Taiwan, and we have recently made a deal with the Philippines to increase our military presence there …

Far from inconceivable that we could find ourselves at war with China. That war might be limited to Asia, but it‘s hard to see how we could be triumphant in the resulting mess. The Brits didn’t save Hong Kong from China. We seem to be headed down the same road with Taiwan.

It could happen, as wars begin with words, small actions trigger events which snowball. Offence and exchange of insults between very few individuals can lead to unleashing troops.
Think about what triggered the major wars in our world.

If anyone has read Tolstoy's War and Peace, it is interesting to look at reasons why the madness of war happens.
Tolstoy's original title for "War and Peace" was "War What is it Good For, Absolutely Nothing"

A stunning novel, I enjoyed the excellent narrated version on Audibles. I just wouldn't have had time to read such a long novel. I was able to listen while I got my housework done.
