Wisteria

As beautiful as those are I would not want those in my backyard,in Florida it is considered an invasive plant.

The problem with wisteria lies in its growth habit. Wisteria is a vine that will grow virtually up anything in its path. By climbing into the canopy of trees or plants, it can shade them out, impairing those plants from effectively growing. Over time, wisteria will climb and twine around other plants, eventually shading and girdling native plants.

BUT if you like those and can handle their growth then go for it.

Ooooh, that is beautiful! I LOVE Wisteria. In fact,we once bought a house just because of it. It was a very hot real estate market, where things sold within hours of being put on the market. We had been looking in a particular neighborhood for months but kept missing out on everything. Then our agent called with a brand new listing-it was lived in by renters and they were NOT hapy that it was being sold. We rushed there after work and it was almost dark. The tenants were not home. We walked up to the front door and the whole side of the house was covered in this gorgeous purple Wisteria in full bloom. And there was this awesome fragrance that we mistakenly thought was the Wisteria-it was in fact a star Jasmine plant planted nearby, but what did we know?we were only in our 20`s lol. Anyway,we bought the house and before escrow could close, the house had to be tented for termites. Move in day we found that it had killed all the Wisteria and it never came back. We were crushed because that was our main reason we bought the place lol. We really didn`t even know what the house looked like on the inside because there were no lights we could find to turn on,we just kind of stumbled around in the dark. Turned out to be a really good investment though. Paid $99,500 for it and sold it 3 years later for $225,000 after spending just $15,000 to add a third bedroom.

Davy Jones.
Here Wisteria is cut back to the branch every year.
This stops it spreading.
